Message from DBC concerning the Coronavirus and Phase I

Dear church family,

I have missed gathering with you in person. While we have been the church scattered during this time I have been and continue to hold you up in prayer before our Lord. However, we have finally come to a place where we can make plans for the church to regather.

As we made these plans, we have taken into account the guidelines handed down by the CDC and Louisiana Department of Health (LDH). As Christians who want to exemplify Christ as being good citizens and loving our neighbor it is important for us to move forward with these in mind. To be open and honest, Phase I is going to feel restrictive. I understand wanting to get back to how things were before. There is no lack of opinions and no lack of information, but we must remember, the church is a place of covenant not debate. We need to show covenant love, love that is self-sacrificing.

The good news is, we are progressing. As we progress through these phases look to God and His Word, “when my anxious thoughts multiply within me, your consolations delight my soul” Psalm 94:19.

Phase I plan for Dutchtown Baptist

  •        The capacity guidelines for Phase I is 25%, which puts DBC at a capacity below our Sunday worship service attendance. For the                  meantime we will continue to stream Sunday morning worship online.
  •        Small group leaders will notify their groups of meeting times and place.
  •        We will regather in the sanctuary on Wednesday May 20 at 6:30pm. We will continue to meet on Wednesdays weekly.
  •        The Children and Youth ministry teams are going to continue online groups and will notify you of changes as we move forward.

In closing, (you know as a pastor I had to get one last thing in) take advantage of this time, do not waste it. Spend time with your family and walking with our Lord.

By His Grace,

Pastor Leigh Rogers
