Moving forward during this season.
As we move forward during this season of life, I want to encourage you with this passage of scripture.
1 Peter 1:3-9, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ; and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.
Peter writes to remind his readers the salvation obtained in Jesus is imperishable, undefiled and will not fade away. So, as we go through this season of life were things are uncertain and different remember our salvation (identity) in Christ Jesus is protected by the power of God and is unchanging.
This passage also reminds us trials serve to proof our faith. Five months into this season of life we all feel like our faith is being proofed in one way or another. Take heart and remember Jesus has overcome the world. Our faith in these seasons of trials result in the praise and glory of Jesus. The mission of the church is the same during this season, to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. This starts here in Ascension Parish for Dutchtown Baptist.
During this time, as a church, we want to be responsible to our church family and community. So, we will be practicing social distancing in the worship center. The Governor’s mask order provides an exemption for churches that practice social distancing so once seated you may remove your mask. Keep others safe, please consider wearing a mask.
